In an old Soviet recording studio, a group of musicians attempt to record a composition based on Pushkin’s play ‘A Feast in Times of Plague’. A strange and frightening phenomenon is disturbing the musicians – be it the ghosts of the past or an echo of a war. Nobody notices what is happening around them until the end.

In 1981, we left Poland for a short visit to Germany. My grandmother was desperate, she said she would never see us again. And in fact, due to unforeseen events, we stayed much longer than we thought. But eventually we were to return to Poland for Christmas…
