// BIS HIERHIN UND WIE WEITER?

Regie: Felix Maria Bühler
Documentary/ Germany 2023/ 91 minutes

The multi-award-winning film shows the challenges faced by people working for a better future despite a hostile and hostile world. A group of committed activists are faced with an important decision: should they continue to fight for their convictions, even if they often feel powerless and helpless and put their future at risk? Or should they give up and resign? The director offers intense and emotional insights into the lives of the protagonists, who repeatedly test the limits of the individual in the fight against climate change and mobilize the power of the community to achieve their goals. What does it trigger in people when a hunger strike is no longer enough? When the people whose future you are trying to save don’t really listen? 19-year-old Lina, co-founder of the Last Generation, wants to use civil disobedience to increase pressure on the government in times of climate crisis. For her fellow campaigners Taura, Guerrero, Charly and Fuchs, this form of protest does not go far enough: other ways are needed. Director Felix Maria Bühler follows his five protagonists up close for a whole year as they take action. He captures friendly, intimate moments, but also shows the difficulties that the activists face on a daily basis – from feelings of powerlessness to violent insults on the street to criminal prosecution. How far are they prepared to go? Where are their limits in standing up for their ideals?
